Enjoying the sunshine in England before leaving for Michigan tomorrow.
Knitting banana fibre in England, with my knitting needle roll made by Nikki in Australia. The finished scarf is destined for Lori's Mom in USA.
look what hatched in our garden on Easter Day!
And now there's more of them. Spotted out in the garden yesterday, just casually sitting, chatting. As chickens do.
What is it about stringy legs and knotted knees? I love 'em.
I love these little creatures with skinny legs and knotty knees. Now I'm on a mission to find more patterns for more little knobbly kneed creatures to knit or crochet.
Rachel wouldn't let me Etsy this one, so he's staying with us. There will be more, however, and they will soon be starring in an Etsy shop near you.
knitted on big needles with 2 types of yarn. 50% linen
Wild and wacky corespun.
Merino, sari silk, mulberry silk.
Don't go looking in your Granny's knitting patterns for ideas for this one. It's just not that kind of yarn.
Approx 36 yards.
I'm having lots of fun with this corespun thing.
On January 23rd my picture was 44th out of 500 on Flickr's Explore. And there it is, amongst all the arty pics taken by professional photographers...my little bit of knitting. Who'd have thought it...?!
Another one ready for the Etsy shop!
Planning on opening this weekend, I think.
I'm hoping to get my Etsy shop up and running within a week or so. It will stock scarves, batts and handspun yarn.
Wendy (spinweaver) in USA knitted and painted this washcloth. Then she unravelled it and sent it to me in the UK to knit up again. She left the cast on stitches and told me about the corners to keep me on track, but the rest was a mystery! This was DIFFICULT! It's by no means perfect but I'm happy with this. I have to be, I undid more than I knitted, I'm sure!
Actually, it was fun and I think we should do it as an official Swap-Bot swap.
This one's lovely. I was going to add some blue but then I loved what I'd got so far. Loads of silk in it. It's going to be one of the first items in my Etsy shop, to open in a couple of weeks.
My latest batt. Merino, silk and angora.
I won a Lazy Kate! The new competition tensioned one. From www.handspinner.co.uk
Thanks Shiela. You now have another loyal customer in me.
i haven't tried it out yet as I have to spin the other half of this batt.
Finished them!
My first carded, spun and crocheted project completed. See previous pics for blend of merino before and after carding, and spun wool.
One mitten is finished. Just needs ends sewing in and a button putting on. Now I need to reproduce 65g of yarn for the other one!
It was cold. -7C
Ellen was eating snow and ice.
Here is my blended wool ready to spin. I only lightly carded it (once through the carder alternating between red blend and green). The unfinished mitten took 44g of spun wool. I'll still need to do more...
